Intensive Dutch

Do you quickly want to learn the basics of Dutch? Then this 3 week intensive Dutch course is designed for you! This starter course is available in CEFR levels A1 and for German speakers A1+A2, as they tend to learn Dutch more quickly.

Course Description

Right from the first lesson, you will actively engage with the Dutch language! You will learn to listen, speak, read and write. Attention will also be paid to grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. You will practise with your fellow students through various communicative assignments. The emphasis in the lessons is on speaking and listening skills, while reading and writing assignments are mainly given as homework. Of course, in addition to the language, you will also learn about Dutch culture. During the lessons, communication will be in Dutch as much as possible. If necessary, the teacher will provide explanations in English.

Entry requirements and intake

This course is for anyone with no prior knowledge of Dutch. German speakers (with at least B2 level) are only admitted to the A1+A2 intensive Dutch course, as it is specifically designed for German speakers. 


Certificate and ECTS credits

After successfully completing a course, you will receive a certificate. To be eligible for a certificate, you must attend at least 12 of the 14 lessons, be present at the final exam and have satisfactory results. One course is worth 3 ECTS credits. Whether these credits are acknowledged depends on your faculty. Please consult with your faculty / home university if these credits will be accepted as part of your programme.

Our intensive Dutch courses

NB German speakers tend to make progress in Dutch much more quickly. That’s why we offer a separate course for people with at least a B2 level in German. These courses will start in September and February.
